Dulux Decorator Centre Mould specifier Page

This page was created to support new legal and health guidance around mould in residential properties, following changes in legislation and increased awareness of indoor air quality and tenant safety.
The goal was to deliver a clear, authoritative resource that educates users, guides them through treatment and prevention, and connects information directly to appropriate solutions — without overwhelming or alarming the user.

Context & Challenge

Following the introduction of updated housing legislation and increased scrutiny around mould-related health risks, Dulux Decorator Centre needed a dedicated resource to support both consumers and specifiers.

The challenge was twofold:
- Present complex health and compliance information clearly
- Do so without turning the page into a purely commercial or fear-driven experience

The content needed to inform first, guide second, and only then introduce products in a logical, responsible way.

Content & User Journey Strategy

The page was structured to mirror how users actually approach mould-related problems:

  • Understanding the issue — what mould is and why it occurs
  • Recognising the risks — health and property implications
  • Taking action — cleaning and treatment
  • Preventing recurrence — primers, paints, and long-term protection

This creates a clear educational journey rather than a sales funnel, which is critical for health-adjacent content.

Design & UX Decisions

The layout prioritises clarity, scannability, and accessibility:

  • Icon-led sections allow users to quickly understand key points
  • Clear visual hierarchy separates education from products
  • Colour usage reinforces section intent without overwhelming the user
  • Content density is carefully controlled to avoid cognitive overload

The design supports both quick scanning and deeper reading, depending on user intent.

Product Alignment & Conversion Logic

Products are introduced only once the context has been established. Rather than presenting a flat product list, items are grouped by purpose:

  • Cleaning solutions
  • Primers and sealers
  • Finishing and preventative coatings

This ensures products feel like answers to a problem, not interruptions.

Accessibility, Trust & Compliance

For the specifier-focused version, additional sections were added to address:Legal responsibilityCompliance under Awaab’s Law
Duty of care for landlords and housing providers

This transforms the page into a reference point for professionals, not just a retail destination.

Outcome & Long-Term Value

The result is a page that:

  • Educates users responsibly
  • Supports compliance-driven decision making
  • Creates reusable content and structure for future regulation-led updates

The modular design allows sections to be expanded, updated, or reused as legislation and guidance evolve.
